About

I’m Coach Karen. As Personal Fit College Consulting, I offer sound strategy & steadfast support.

As a young professional I was a professor at a small college in Boston. In addition to teaching a freshman “college success” course that focused on executive function skills and accountability practices, I was asked to serve as the school’s chair of the advising task force. I have always had a passion for supporting students. For sixteen years I coached kids, adolescents, and adults working on positive behavior change and habit building.

I’m also the mom of two college students and one delightful middle schooler. When my oldest child entered high school in 2017, I started to learn about the strategy of the current college admissions scene. Diving into the data, visiting colleges, project managing the application timeline, and finding the best academic, social, and financial fit for the kid in front of me is a challenging game I love.

Working as an Independent Educational Consultant who specializes in college applications the perfect blend of my past careers and lived experience. With Personal Fit College Consulting, I wanted to create a process where your student feels seen, presents themselves authentically, and your student moves through the application process without mountains of stress.

As for my academic background, I hold a BA from the University of Notre Dame and a MS from the University of Texas at Austin. I earned a postgraduate diploma from Birkbeck College, University of London. So whether you’re looking for an elite private school, a large public university, or an international college experience, I’ve been there!

I am a life-long learner who holds a number of nationally-recognized coaching certifications. I am an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultant Association and have completed the IECA’s Summer Training Institute.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, long-distance running, and baking. Life is about balance!
