College Overview Consultation

This is a standalone, 75-90 minute consultation with the student and parent(s). This $250 investment is the best way to get everyone on the same page about what applying to college really looks like. If you’re looking to reduce family stress around college talk, this is where to start.

The College Overview Consultation is designed to provide a(n):

  • Overview of the current college application landscape
  • Review of student’s grades, test scores, sample essays, activities list
  • Conversation about interests, aptitudes, and study habits
  • Discussion of college plans and goals
  • Synopsis of the college application process, responsibilities, and timelines
  • If mutually agreeable, explanation of next steps for additional service

Building the College List

Utilize personality tests and/or skills finder assessments

Brainstorm possible majors/minors

Encourage student to articulate non-negotiable factors
Identify any specific support needs

Clearly understand the family’s financial contribution or needs

Review of student’s grades, test scores, sample essays, activities list

Recommend 10-12 schools for application that meet the student’s academic, social, and financial needs

Support brainstorming of ideas for the Common App essay and up to five supplemental essays

Encourage the student to find their unique voice through writing drills and creative activities

For students who have already started the Common App and essays but need support with editing and polishing

Review: Personal Statement, 3 supplemental essays, Common Application

1 two-hour workshop with the student + 1 one-hour follow-up with the student for final edits + professional review time

The Senior Rush package does not include any advice regarding where/when/how to apply to particular schools. It is an application support and review package only. College List Building may be purchased as an add-on if time and availability permits.

SENIOR RUSH PLUS PACKAGE

For HS seniors joining Personal Fit College Consulting August 1st – October 1st, for applications due November 15th and later

For students who may have already started the Common App and essays but need support to create a more developed, complete, and coherent application

Develop & Review: Personal Statement, 3 supplemental essays, Common Application

1 one-hour intro workshop with the student + up to 6 one-hour structured sessions with the student to address the different parts of the application + 1 one-hour session for final edits + professional review time

The Senior Rush Plus package does not include any advice regarding where/when/how to apply to particular schools. It is an application support and review package only. College List Building may be purchased as an add-on if time and availability permits.

UC APPLICATION PACKAGE

For students applying to the University of California system.

Work with PFCC will be done August-November 15th of the student’s senior year

Develop & Review: Responses to the four Personal Inquiry Questions

Review: UC Application (Activities List, A-G requirements)

1 one-hour intro workshop with the student + up to four 1 one-hour structured sessions with the student to address the different PIQs + 1 hour session for final edits + professional review time
